It's true. Grannies do it. But there's more to volunteering than selling cardigans at the local op-shop. Don't get us wrong, we love grannies, cardies and op-shops. But volunteers come from all ages and backgrounds. And they do the most amazing things. Without them, the world would be very different. In a not-very-good way. More please

Helping Organisations with Social Media

By Trevor
Why don't not-for-profits use social media tools more extensively? After all, they are much closer, and more reliant, on communities than corporates and governments. I hope that my few hours of help for WSPA will give them some tools and ideas to go forward with social media. They certainly want to. They see the value.

They have some great people, doing big things to help overcome the appalling treatment animals often suffer. But, as with many organisations, they are pressed for time and resources. Our democracy is made more vibrant and resilient by a strong community sector. Helping these organisations with social media is important. I'm glad I had the opportunity to pass on some of my experience. I hope others will too.
