MNDSA receive no state government funding for our services. As such we are reliant on fundraising, donations, sponsorship's and successful grant applications to fund our work. The community visitor program involves having trained volunteers visiting isolated members of the Motor Neurone Disease community at their residence. There is no manual handling or personal care involved. This role is to support members of the MND community and establish a relationship. The community visitor will provide social interaction and support to the person and undergo social activities together, such as having a cup of tea and a chat together on a regular basis.
Our WheelieNet is a school visit program designed to educate students in disability through a wheelchair experience. We are looking for 2 - 3 able bodied people to assist with loading and unloading of our trailer when our member is not able to.
