Join Local Land Services and Clean4Shore to remove waste from our precious waterways, protect migratory bird habitat, and contribute towards the Australian Marine Debris Initiative citizen science program. Working on the Hunter River, our team sets out in Clean4Shore’s barge to collect debris from mangroves and tidal flats. The debris collected will be sampled to add records to the AMDI database before sending to landfill.
Join Local Land Services' Volunteer Land Management team. Meeting at our depot on Ash Island, we travel (usually up to one hour) throughout the Hunter region to rehabilitate natural areas. Your basic sewing machine skills, or willingness to learn, will be useful in this role sewing wildlife rescue pouches and basket liners. Only straight line sewing, and patterns are cut along straight lines. All equipment is provided. Pouches and liners are sewn to specific sizes and designs and are given to local wildlife carers as needed. Timing is flexible - between 8am and 1pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
