  3. Monitor Hooded Plovers - Fleurieu Peninsula

    Fleurieu Hoodie Helpers are needed to monitor, protect and raise awareness about Hooded Plovers on beaches on the Fleurieu. Hooded Plovers are small coastal shorebirds. Listed as vulnerable nationally, there are only 22 breeding pairs found on the Fleurieu Peninsula. Hoodie Helpers walk along a specific beach to see if Hooded Plovers are nesting during their breeding season (Aug to Mar) and record their findings and possibly assist with the erecting of temporary fencing to protect the chicks

  9. Erosion Control Methods in the Bioregions of Cape York

    Join us for a short-term stint on a unique, privately owned piece of paradise just 45km South of Cooktown featuring the best Cape York has to offer - Grass Plains, Wetlands, Woodlands and Rainforest combine on the property known as Kings Plains. Volunteers will be helping to install natural check dam barriers for erosion control in various gullies in the area, whilst spending the nights camping in an old miners hut under the stars.
