A Volunteer who is able to offer light gardening duties and a warm and friendly approach to working in a Women's Refuge and around children is required. Weeding, replanting, watering, spreading mulch. This would suit a retired garden lover that would have a couple of hours per week to spare to get our gardens looking family and child friendly. Women are encouraged to apply. ( No mowing/whipper snipping involved) An enjoyment of gardening and being outdoors

The Communities for Children Program run supported Playgroups at KENG, Loganlea Community Organisation and Kingston State School. The busy Playgroups offer an opportunity to support parents/carers and their children through access to information, resources and referral. The coordinator plans activities for the term as well as guest speakers and the families enjoy a healthy morning tea. The Playgroup Assistant would support the coordinator to set up, run and pack away after the session.

You should be familiar with basic maintenance tasks. Do it yourself experience is suitable. Own tools would be helpful, if not this could be negotiated.

As one of our House Heroes, you will be assisting in keeping our Ronald McDonald House sparkling clean and tidy for guests and families.
Based at The Townsville Hospital, our warm and welcoming Ronald McDonald Family Room provides a refuge for parents whose child is receiving treatment at the hospital. Through the generous contribution of volunteers, this facility is available to families 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm.
