The Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP) supports refugees from the moment they arrive at the airport. HSP provides on-arrival accommodation (OAA) for refugees on arrival in Australia and assistance to secure long-term accommodation (LTA). Housing Assistants work with the HSP team to support clients as they settle into their OAA, find, secure and settle into their LTA. Volunteers are engaged to guide and assist clients to feel comfortable in homes.

The SSI Community Kitchen offers a space for guests to share a meal and experience multicultural Australia, to have fun meeting new people, practice English, and participate in music and sporting activities. The Community Kitchen provides access to specialist service providers, information and skills development. Community Kitchen all-rounders assist to offer a welcoming space by supporting the delivery of a positive guest experience.

Friendship Garden Volunteer (Thursday availability required)

The Friendship Garden welcomes newly arrived migrants, refugees, people seeking asylum, and individual community members who may not have access to a garden in their home. Volunteers support participants to grow their own food and foster a sense of belonging to the Friendship Garden community. Volunteers are also called upon to assist with gardening and other horticulture related activities, preparing lunch and helping participants connect with each other.

Friendship Garden Playgroup Assistant

The Friendship Garden Playgroup supports CALD families, with pre-school aged children, with a structured playgroup that enables children to engage in activities that promote social connection, creative expression and assists with the development of their understanding and appreciation of the environment. Playgroup Assistants support the facilitator to connect families, prepare and serve food, set up and pack up playgroup resources and provide language assistance.

Ignite Market Stall Assistant

Ignite Merchandise Assistants support Ignite entrepreneurs by selling their products at festivals, events, markets and functions. Volunteers also work with Ignite facilitators and entrepreneurs to maximise sales, increase the customer base and provide product to help entrepreneurs grow their business.
