We are looking for Arabic or Rohingya speaking volunteers to provide language support to adult migrants and refugees attending our monthly Women’s Group in Zillmere. Volunteers play an important role in creating welcome, inclusion and belonging.
The Meals Program Volunteer is required from 10.00am to 2pm every Thursday to work with staff and consumers to organise and prepare a communal lunch at the Asylum Seeker Welcome Centre. The volunteer will work autonomously and ideally have experience working in a commercial kitchen. Creativity is necessary in order to create a lunch menu using food items that are available in the foodbank during that week. Your work will offer comfort to those seeking asylum in this country.

We need drivers to collect prepacked boxes of fruit and veg. You don't need to do every week, you will be a part of a team and can do weekly/fortnightly or monthly. At CARAD, we provide our clients with fresh fruit and vegetables on a weekly basis. Our clients are Asylum Seekers, who do not receive Centrelink, Medicare or any support from elsewhere. Through the Second Bite program, our Pantry provides food security for the most vulnerable people in our community.
Centacare FNQ is the lead provider of multicultural services in Far North Queensland. We have been delivering programs that promote a safe, welcoming and supportive space for newly arrived refugee and migrant communities, as well as those seeking asylum for over a decade. We are in need of volunteers who have basic skills as a Carpenter and is willing to pass on the knowledge to refugee and migrant communities to up skill them and help them into employment. SisterWorks is a partner of UN Women, to deliver UN Women’ Second Chance Education pilot project in Australia. SisterWorks provides training programs to the most vulnerable women with little English of refugee and migrant backgrounds. As a Sewing Teacher, you will be working in the SisterWorks design lab, empowering women by coordinating their sewing classes and teaching new skills.
