About Edible Harvest Out West

Edible Harvest Out West (EHOW) was established in 2014 in response to community interest in setting up a permanent community garden in the Caroline Springs/Taylors Hill. EHOW is a volunteer-based group seeking to establish a permanent community garden with the following features:

- A main veggie patch with garden rotation system used for workshops, learning, experimentation
- Beds available for rent by individuals (some raised for all access)
- Fruit orchard (fruit forest)
- Outdoor classroom suitable for educational workshops for kindergarten groups, schools and adults
- Farmers Market and food swaps and harvest festivals
- Cultural garden beds to share food and gardening knowledge from around the world
- Rainwater tanks & access to mains water (proximity to building to catch rainwater)
- Access to kitchen & cooking facilities for cooking classes including a wood fire oven
- Specialist beds including herb garden, berry garden and perennial beds
- A small community run café with an emphasis on local, healthy produce
- Green community gathering place for all to access and enjoy (even those not interested in gardening)
