Well established Neighbourhood House (Holden Street) is in the north of Yarra close to the border of the cities of Darebin and Moreland. It is a not for profit organisation managed by a voluntary Committee of Governance elected by the local community. Holden Street provides educational, recreational, childcare and skill based programs at low cost and is a model for and promotes environmental sustainability. It also offers information, social support and other community activities. Many of the programs support people with disabilities, senior citizens and people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Holden Street receives regular funding from the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services, City of Yarra, Department of Education and Training. Specific projects are funded from other sources on a project by project basis.
