At Uniting, we believe in taking real steps to make the world a better place. We work to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice. Our focus is always on the people we serve, no matter where they are at in their life. Access to transport can sometimes be a barrier to living the life you want. It can affect opportunities for education, employment and even make keeping in touch with friends and family challenging. We know that public transport isn’t always accessible throughout our communities and getting a licence is not always easy. This organisation helps bridge this gap, by connecting good drivers in the community to those who are working towards a provisional licence. Free driving lessons occur weekly in a safe vehicle provided by this organisation. Volunteer mentors support learners to complete their 120 practice hours and sit their provisional driving test. Learner progress is tracked, and their development supported, to ensure they are given the best opportunity of successfully graduating the program.
