Logo for Ngaarda Media

Ngaarda Media offers a platform for Indigenous and Non-indigenous people across the Pilbara to tell their stories through radio, photography and videography. It is dedicated to nurturing and keeping culture strong. Ngaarda Media presents Aboriginal culture in an inspiring and meaningful way, across all digital media, to allow more people to experience the oldest living culture on earth. Ngaarda Media was originally established as the media element of the Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation’s activities focussed on the preservation, recording and promoting of the culture of the Yindijibarndi people. It now operates as an independent body that is able to promote all the cultural and language groups of the Pilbara region. Ngaarda Media Aboriginal Corporation is a not for profit organisation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006.(CATSI Act). It is a membership based organisation with two classes of members, corporate members who have voting rights at general meetings and individual members who have no voting rights. There are four corporate members - the Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation, the Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation, the Cheeditha Group Aboriginal Corporation and the Ngurawaana Group Aboriginal Corporation. Ngaarda media has a license to broadcast across the Pilbara and we are the only Aboriginal media and broadcasting hub in the area. Its our aim to inspire people to find new ways to be actively involved in the preservation, exposure and upkeep of long held cultural knowledge and practice. To support this Ngaarda Media will provide access to training and hands-on experience. We are committed to providing job pathways to employment in media related roles across the nation and work in a culturally sensitive manner to bring out the best in our trainees and volunteers. Ngaarda Media is a culturally driven, community based organisation that is here to support the local community. We work to ‘close the gap’ by empowering the Pilbara community to share their stories, to support healing and move towards living longer, healthier lives. We help bring together local service providers with the community and to take action under the guidance of the elders. We give people a platform to share their cultural stories and their messages of hope with the region, the rest of Australia and the world.
