The Surf Coast Shire is a local government area in the Barwon South West region of Victoria, Australia, located in the south-western part of the state. It covers an area of 1,560 square kilometres and, at the 2016 census, had a population of 29,397. The Surf Coast, located at the start of the Great Ocean Road, is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in Australia. Visitors marvel at the changing landscape, where the rugged coast line of Australia meets the stunning natural backdrop of the Great Otway National Park. The Surf Coast region boasts four visitor information centres supported by volunteers, located in Torquay, Anglesea, Lorne and Winchelsea. Our kindergartens are supported by volunteers as either Parent Advisory Group members or helpers in the program.
