Greyhound Adoption Program

The Greyhound Adoption Program has been set up to re-home ex-racing grehounds as pets and educate the public about what fantastic pets greyhounds make. Although GAP is based in Seymour they do come to Sandown and Broadmeadows area on Tuesdays. GAP has three volunteer roles: 1. Greyhound Enrichment 2. Community Engagement 3. Foster Care Greyhound enrichment is conducted at our Seymour kennels where you get to wash, walk, groom and play with the greyhounds currently in our care. We have shifts available generally from Tuesday to Saturday. Community Engagement is for those people who own a GAP greyhound. They take their greyhound to promotions that we attend to talk to people about greyhounds and how to adopt one. Some greyhounds that enter the program will also undergo a period of foster care prior to adoption. During the foster period, volunteers located across Victoria offer their homes and their time to assist the greyhounds with their transition from the track and life in a kennel environment to life in a family home.
