Meteors Sports Club was formed in November 1971 as a women’s only Hockey Club. 1973 saw the addition of a men’s team. The club continually grew, adding junior boys and girls teams.
Between 1971 and 1975, soccer, cricket, basketball, softball and rugby union joined the club. The club gained a 20 year lease over its grounds in 1975. In 1978, the club was renamed Meteors Sports Club and became an umbrella organisation for the clubs.
