Carers come from all walks of life. You can become a Carer gradually, by helping increasingly over time, or suddenly after a health crisis or an accident. Carers SA is the statewide organisation for supporting Carers in South Australia and is the local Carer Gateway provider in South Australia on behalf of the Australian Government. The Carer Gateway was first introduced in 2020 and offers services and support for Carers across the State, delivered by Carers SA and partner agencies. Carers SA also provides Carer Breaks and one on one support for Carers through the Community Connections Program and also plays a key advocacy role on behalf of Carers.
