The governing body of University sport in Australia, AUS supports athletics at over 50 member institutions in five geographic divisions. Australian University Sport (AUS) is charged with the responsibility to facilitate national and international sporting opportunities on behalf of its member universities. The national sporting program includes a number of high quality national and regional sporting events, including the Southern University Games which began in 1991. The Southern University Games are renowned for providing a friendly but competitive environment for student athletes from all over Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. Recognised as the perfect opportunity for student athletes to compete in a participation based event against like minded students from across the south region, the Games has built up a reputation as an event not to be missed, attracting over 1,800 competitors each year.
