Youth Empowerment Against HIV/AIDS (YEAH)

Logo for Youth Empowerment Against HIV/AIDS (YEAH)

YEAH is an national, youth-led, non-for-profit organisation founded in Melbourne in 2005 with local volunteer-led teams in Perth, Brisbane, Darwin and Adelaide. We aim to support young people to take control of their sexual health through participation and leadership. Our signature program, the 'Agents of YEAH' program aims to inform and empower young people to make decisions about their own sexual health; preventing the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STI) and human immunodeficiency virus. Sexual health is very important as 1 in 20 Australians aged 15-29 has an STI and 75% of all nationally reported STIs occur in young people. We have a sex-positive approach and also aim to deliver the message of healthy relationships and consent. Young people aged between 17 and 29 who volunteer with us are trained and supported by our Local Leaders are empowered to deliver sexual health peer education (primarily through workshops) in high schools, community events and universities.
