Two years ago, The Final Step Cafe was converted into a social enterprise with all profits going towards projects managed by 'Social Opportunity Group' (SOG). SOG's first project, 'Food for Thought', is focused on supporting underprivileged kids in Gonet, a slum community in the outskirts of Buenos Aires, Argentina. We work in collaboration with a local community group, invested in a fully operational kitchen and spruced up the space for the kids use. We now fuel between 20- 30 children daily with nutritious food and keep them engaged in fun, healthy activities to keep them off the streets and in a positive social environment. At the Final Step cafe in Melbourne we depend on our volunteer network to minimise the operating costs of the Cafe. This allows us direct a bigger portion of funds towards our project. A dollar can go a long way in places like Gonet, so each volunteer is making a big difference! Working at the Final Step is a great opportunity for volunteers to get experience in hospitality, meet some amazing people and get involved in a great cause.
