Commitment Regular - more than 6 months
Training Carers are visited regularly at home by their puppy development officer to provide guidance in training and caring for their puppy. SEDA holds a training day that the carer and puppy are required to attend to once a month.
Time required All day, everyday for 12 months
Requirements National Police Certificate Working with Children Check Minimum Commitment: 12 months
Please consider the following when applying for this role:
-Can you ensure that the puppy will NOT be left at home for more than 3-4 hours a day?
-Do you have more than one dog in your household? (If you have 2 dogs, please check with your local council to see if you can have more). Is your current dog/s desexed? If not desexed, is it male/female?
-Are you aware that the puppy MUST sleep inside?
-Are you available to meet with the Puppy Development training staff and your puppy for regular 1 hour visits? (Staff will travel to you during business hours, visits will be weekly to start and then monthly once the pups get older)
-Are you fit and able to walk a puppy on a daily basis? E.g. Can you take the dog for regular walks, shopping centre visits, to café’s, on public transport, on socialisation trips and toileting?
-If you are renting, do you have written approval from your landlord? (If no, please request landlord approval before proceeding)
