Adult Migrant English Program - Melbourne Polytechnic

Volunteers are vital to helping eligible migrants and refugees practice English, learn about the Australian way of life and connect to the local community. This provides them with a strong foundation to successfully integrate into Australian society.

Melbourne Polytechnic are recruiting volunteer tutors for the Melbourne Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) Volunteer Tutor Scheme (VTS). ** You will need to be a resident of Victoria and aged 18 or over to express interest in this role.

The Melbourne AMEP covers the following regions North West, North East, South East, Inner metropolitan Melbourne and regional Bendigo.

Volunteering as a tutor gives you the opportunity to:

  • help refugees and migrants learn English and become part of the Australian community
  • meet people from a wide range of backgrounds
  • develop new skills
  • learn about other languages and cultures
  • become part of a dynamic and committed volunteer team

One to one tutoring with a volunteer takes place via digital and mobile phone platforms such as FaceTime, Zoom and WhatsApp Video calls or face to face in a public setting.

No previous experience in teaching is required.
