To mentor young novice drivers aged 16 to 25, who have barriers to completing their 50 'log book' hours to obtain their driver's license. The supervised driving hours are not driving instruction or lessons. The role of the volunteer driving mentor is similar to that of a part or other family member assisting with supervised driving practice. The driving mentor role will also include building a positive rapport non-judgemental approach to working with youth while promoting safe road use with clients.
An automatic RYDE vehicle which is comprehensively insured, maintained and has a fuel card is provided. The RYDE car is based at Geographe Leisure Centre. There is no formal age range of volunteer mentors, as long as you have a current drivers licence, can drive safely and have a good understanding of road rules.
