Ward 1A Volunteers - Lyell McEwin Hospital

Ward 1A is our Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) patient cohort. Our aim is to serve those patients in the 80 and above age group recover from their illnesses. While with the ACE team, as part of the comprehensive assessments, we look to our volunteers for social and activity based therapy. It is envisioned that you can provide 1:1 social interaction or participate in group therapy with our clinical staff. We are looking to implement a program that offers these patients activities and stimulation that is engaging and enhances their time in care. Volunteers can play an important and active role in various ways. They can also support staff and the patients by assisting in general duties within the Ward including re-stocking, organising and disinfecting diversional resources and welcoming and directing visitors to the Ward.
