We are looking for volunteers to offer 4 hours a week who are passionate in helping others with relevant art knowledge, to provide meaningful experiences for patients and families.
The role as a Cartwheels Volunteers can vary depending on your skills and interests. Some of the key areas may include; Mobile art studio and Open Studio, Painting with Parkinson’s Program, Hospital Art Displays, Gallery Exhibitions, Medical Oncology, Paediatric, Dementia Care and Rehabilitation Programs
Online volunteer training and hospital ethos is provided.
Duties & Responsibilities include;
Contribute to the creating and running of arts sessions run in the Hospital in a central location
Contribute to the creating of a mobile arts service to take around to designated hospital wards
Liaise with the Nurse Unit Manager regarding appropriate patients to introduce yourself to and explain the Cartwheels service
Offer those patients and/or their visitors the opportunity to engage in creating and making, either in their rooms on a one-to-one basis, or in groups in a communal area of the ward
Maintain work stations and ensure hygiene
Maintain a record of patients and/or visitors who use the service and the activity type
Interact with patients, visitors and caregivers (staff) in a friendly and professional manner
