The role of a Lead Tenant will suit those who have a genuine interest in working with young people. It requires a level of maturity and ability to lead by example, demonstrating appropriate forms of behaviour in both in-house dynamics and personal conduct and lifestyle. It is preferred that the lead tenant be currently employed or enrolled in education, preferably within a related field.

The Lead Tenant lives rent-free as a co-tenant with up to three young people at any time and provides general direction & encouragement to assist development of their independent living skills e.g. cooking, cleaning, budgeting, shopping and meeting their tenancy obligations. The volunteer must establish and maintain appropriate boundaries and rapport with the young co-tenants, and liaise regularly with Uniting about any issues affecting the residents or household.

The expectation is that the volunteer will spend a minimum five nights a week at the property and be available to attend house meetings. You'll need positive interpersonal and leadership skills, be able to communicate assertively, and have an ability to follow directions.
