Commitment

Regular - more than 6 months

Training

Training can take around 4-12 weeks depending on yours and your pet's skills at recruitment. Training includes home study + online learning + onsite training at Penshurst or Hornsby.

Time required

After training we will require you to offer a few hours, reliably and consistently twice per month. Most requests are for visits Monday - Friday between 10 am - 2.00 pm. Some requests are for weekends.

Reimbursement

A petrol reimbursement tariff is available to volunteers asked to travel outside of their local area for a visit, after training, with prior approval.

Other Requirements: . A driving license and a vehicle to safely transport your pet. . Currently most health care facilities require volunteers to have a flu vaccination and some are requesting a C19 vaccination status of 2. (Vaccinations are not required when visiting individuals or groups at home, or in an outside area such as a park, or a garden, or at a private home.) . Pets are required to be assessed by us and by the volunteer's own veterinarian using one of our specific checklists for suitability after training. . We accept pet homeopathic flea / worming + vaccination treatments from a professional veterinarian. . Dogs require a C5 vaccination (or a suitable Titer test) . Cats require a F3 vaccination (or a suitable Titer test) . All pets are required to be on a current worming and flea program. . Pets must be healthy, calm, well mannered, confident and enjoy meeting strangers.
