The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Freedom Solutions Australia.

Volunteers can volunteer for both Freedom Wheels roles or one only if this is more suitable to your skills, fitness level and interests.

Clinic Volunteer:

  • Assessment clinics are held on site at Abbotsford and in regional Victoria. Volunteers are responsible for the set up/pack up of the assessment kit and bikes. Each client is assessed by our Occupational Therapist (OT) and various components are added onto the bike by the volunteer until the client can safely ride the bike. Volunteers need to be energetic and have basic bike knowledge.

Assembly Volunteer:

  • At our workshop in Abbotsford volunteers build the customised bikes. The bikes are a standard bike, and volunteers add on the components prescribed by the Occupational Therapist. Usually 2-4 volunteers are rostered at one time.

These roles suit volunteers who love bikes and gain satisfaction from seeing a person get to ride a bike (often for the first time ever!) There are also other opportunities to think outside the square when a special solution is required and to assist with the occasional pick up or delivery of a bike.

Volunteers are required to undertake Induction training and will be provided with "on the job" training and guidance provided by experienced and competent volunteers.
