A volunteer is matched with a family to provide support once a week for 2 hours, over a 6 month period. Visits with the family could be their home environment, supporting them in the community by attending appointments and encouraging social inclusion activities. Volunteers are supported through the program coordinator, matching is based on volunteers and family/carers interests, availability, experience and the goals that are identified by the family. Volunteers require good verbal and non-verbal communication, understanding of privacy and confidentiality, respect, empathy and able to develop supportive relationship with the family.
Access to personal vehicle, personal email address, willing to and eligible to apply for a Blue Card Working with Children's Check, apply for a Police Check through The Benevolent Society to be completed before volunteering can commence.
