As with many not for profit organisations, Community GRO relies on the valuable contribution of volunteers to ensure the sustainability in delivering our programs and services. The volunteer position involves the delivery of pre-cooked meals. At this stage we plan to deliver pre-cooked meals twice weekly to people in need in our community e.g. seniors, vulnerable and isolated people who may not have support from family or neighbours. A risk management plan is in place for the delivery to ensure that at no time will the volunteers have contact or interaction with any people other than Community GRO staff or other volunteers.
Loading pre-cooked meals, food packs and other essential items into the Community GRO vehicle, and delivering to families as directed. A good knowledge of Townsville and suburbs or the ability to read a map or to use google maps; or the ability to learn how to use google maps is essential.
This position is suit someone who can work either alone or with another volunteer.
Honesty and reliability are integral to this position in order to ensure the food parcels and other essential items are delivered to the correct families in a timely manner. The ability to work to a schedule. No heavy lifting is required.
Volunteers will be rewarded with the knowledge that they are contributing to ensuring those in need in the community are provided with food and other essentials during the COVID-19 crisis.
