The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Interchange Inner East.

The Host/Mentor Program is aimed at providing respite for families of someone with a disability, through careful matching with volunteer hosts or mentors.

The time and length of contact is flexible and is based on what is most suitable for both the family and the Host/Mentor. It may vary from a few hours a month to an entire weekend. With a comprehensive and detailed matching process, the Host/Mentor Program can be very rewarding for all involved.

• The Host Program aims to match a volunteer individual, couple or family with a child who has a disability. The volunteer host then provides respite once a month by inviting the child to stay with them in their home for a whole day or overnight.

• The Mentor Program is aimed at providing a young person with a mentor who can assist with social interaction, learning skills for independence and community access. The mentor and young person participate in activities that they choose together, such as playing sport, going out for dinner, attending live music events, or seeing a movie.

So if you are kind and patient and can spare a few hours a month, please get in touch with us as our children and young people, and their families need you.

Minimum 12-month regular commitment
