Citizen advocates help enrich the life of a person with intellectual disability by:
• Sharing time, a simple gesture that creates inclusion and self-worth. • Assisting them to work towards their goals in life. • Helping them connect with their local community. • Being a voice, helping them to be a part of decision making and stand up for their rights. • Mentoring and setting a good example.
No specific qualifications are needed, just a strong sense of social justice and willingness to make a difference.
