Duties of the Volunteer Victim Assistance Worker - Office/Projects may include:

-Act as reception and first point of enquiry for VoCNT, at all times providing a warm and welcoming response -Direct calls appropriately, exercising responsibility for referrals to the relevant program area -Provide emotional support using a strengths-based approach that demonstrates active listening, empathy, reassurance and offers appropriate support options
-Provide general support to victims, their families and prosecution witnesses during their contact with the court and justice system -Accompany Victims of Crime NT staff on client visits -Make initial contact with clients referred through the Support link system and assist with scheduling of appointments -Make initial contact with clients referred to the restorative justice program for victim-offender conferencing -Represent VoCNT at shows, expos and community activities to promote awareness of the organisation’s services -Maintain a clean and tidy reception area and surrounding spaces -Enter data into the CDS Database to enter client information, statistics and attend to case closures -Record incoming call statistics for reporting purposes -Assist with the development of a quarterly newsletter for distribution to members and stakeholders -Attend to mail collection and recording and maintain office stationery and equipment needs. -Periodically re-stock brochures in public spaces as per spreadsheet e.g. libraries, police stations, MP offices -Assist in the facilitation and administration of support activities for victims -Update the VoCNT resource directory from time to time -Work with allocated staff members on projects that are aligned with volunteer skills and experience eg. Planning an event, analysis of crime statistics
-Research funding opportunities and assist with submission writing for identified projects -Attend VoCNT Volunteer Skills Workshops and other volunteer activities to maintain learning and skills
