Volunteer Cooks for Community Meals

Mount Gravatt Community Centre

The Volunteer Cooks for Community Meals will be working as part of a small team to prepare and serve a regular free meal for the community, in the kitchen located at ‘Bernie’s Place’.  This project aims to engage disadvantaged members of the community and provide a nourishing meal and social interaction opportunities, along with access to information and referrals to other appropriate services. The role may include:

  • Creating a welcoming environment that is respectful and inclusive for clients experiencing disadvantage.
  • Planning and development of meals in conjunction with our Food Rescue Program
  • Allocating tasks amongst the volunteer team
  • Liaising with MGCCI staff and volunteers around food donation supply and availability.
  • Preparing and serving a weekly/fortnightly meal
