HUB's Welcome area is the most important function of our service, making sure anyone that comes in feels welcomed and supported. Our reception is staffed entirely by friendly volunteers who support the Neighbourhood Centre, the Legal Service and Inspire Youth Service who operate in the building also by answering phones, greeting and directing clients and more.

The Welcome area has a drop-in tea and coffee station and a community office with computers and printers. If you have some computer knowledge to assist community members with their use of this area - but this is not essential!

Providing information and referrals are also an important part of this role, to assist community members in accessing the help they need.

Key skills that will help you excel in this role include:

  • Friendly, non-judgmental and feeling comfortable to talk and engage with people
  • Willing to learn
  • Customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills for data entry etc
  • Flexible and willing to 'have a go'/show initiative

An employed HUB worker is usually close at hand to ask for assistance and support. Induction and training is provided. Support is provided in an ongoing way and the HUB is a welcoming and friendly place to be.

This is a great opportunity for anyone that wants to build their reception/admin confidence or for those that want to put their existing skills to use for a good cause, helping our wonderful community of Inala.
