The program is delivered in a number of settings, including custodial settings such as the Kurlana Tapa Youth Justice Centre (KTYJC).

The opportunity

You will be assisting the Lead Trainer to deliver weekly sessions on Tuesdays, in accordance with training materials and guidelines, taking into consideration the health needs, background, culture and learning ability of the client group. You will need to be non-judgemental, have a positive attitude and clear communication skills, and be prepared to be a positive role model for young people.

It would be great if you have knowledge and experience working with vulnerable young people from diverse backgrounds and an understanding of the challenges they face. Skills and experience with group facilitation will also be highly regarded. Experience in running fitness/group classes and/or one on one personal training, is required.

The impact

As a support trainer you will assist young people to learn valuable skills and information in relation to their health and wellbeing. By being a positive role model, you will contribute to enhance their life skills and personal resilience.

Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the world’s largest humanitarian network.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
