Help us hit the streets of Hobart to raise $10,000

Have some fun! Get involved! Get excited! About raising much needed funds to support the vital role Guide Dogs play! Help change the lives of Tasmanians who are living with low vision, disability or illness, giving them the gift of independence, mobility, safety and quality of life all day, every day.

How can you LEND A PAW?

• Take part in the Street Appeal in Hobart on Wednesday the 18th of November

• Spread the word among friends, family and colleagues - they may want to LEND A PAW too!

• Support Guide Dogs and visit us on the day - Bring your change to make a change! Or Tap to Donate and make a difference!

• Share your involvement on social media with the hashtag #LENDAPAW #GUIDEDOGSTAS #PUPPYLOVE

• Volunteer to hold a mini dog money box and accept donations from the public for 3+ hours

So you want to volunteer! What’s next?

Register your interest to volunteer and a Guide Dogs Team Member will be in touch to complete your volunteer application and confirm your preferred collection time.

Collection time slots requiring volunteers in Hobart, on the 18th of November are; Time 1 - 7.30am to 10.30am Time 2 - 10.30am to 1.30pm Time 3 – 1.30pm to 4.30pm

Media Consent form As part of your registration you will be asked to complete an online media consent form to specify if YES - you consent or NO – you DO NOT consent for your photos to be used on social media etc.

Volunteer Orientation A volunteer orientation day will be held on Monday 16th of November at 10.30am-11.30am at; St Andrews Park 4C Church Street Hobart Tas 7000 You can meet our ambassador dogs Murphy and Paris and learn a little more about Guide Dogs Tasmania and what to expect for the Street Appeal event. Guide Dogs Tasmania supporter t-shirts will also be available for purchase and you can ask any questions you might have for our team about volunteering for the Street Appeal.

What to expect on Street Appeal Day - Wednesday 18th November

Hobart Collection volunteers meet at the Guide Dogs Pop Up Shop in Elizabeth Street Mall, Elizabeth Street, Hobart (Located outside the Hobart City Council information booth) 30 minutes prior to their volunteer collection time and collect their Mini Dog money box, volunteer ID badge and Stickers to give away. Please bring a bottle of water and hat if it is hot!

Please note* due to Covid 19 restrictions there will be limited volunteer shirts available to borrow but we will have Guide Dog Supporter t-shirts available for purchase if you wish to show your support. Otherwise neat casual dress is required for your volunteering shift.

You will be directed to your allocated collection point for your volunteer shift with your volunteer partner. All collection locations will have; • A small table and 2 chairs • A tap to donate unit and/or eftpos machine with instructions • Wipes • Sanitizer • Pen • Donation Form for donors that request a receipt for tax deductible donations over $2

Smile politely at passers by and except donations. We will also have our Guide Dog staff sup-PAW-t crew and Guide Dogs in training nearby to help draw in the crowds!

After your volunteer shift hasfinished you can sign out by returning to the Guide Dogs Tasmania main office, 164 Elizabeth St, and hand in your full mini dog money box. Our Ambassador dogs Murphy or Paris will be there to welcome you with a well-earned cuddle to say thank you for the amazing efforts all our volunteers have contributed to the Event!

Corona Virus (COVID-19) Safety Terms and Conditions for volunteering Your Safety and the safety of others is of upmost priority to VisAbility/Guide Dogs Tasmania. Upon successful application you will be emailed a Corona Virus (COVID-19) Street Appeal safety plan. By submitting your volunteer application you agree to read and adhere to all recommended practices.
