Kitchen Garden Program - Garden Volunteer

North Arm State School

Garden classes are held outdoors in the school garden. Teachers and year level classes attend for 40-60 minute sessions on a Tuesday. Volunteers would assist with a small group of students as they attend to the garden practices. The garden program focuses on permaculture practices and seasonal food production gardens. Practices would include such activities as planting, harvesting, weeding, using garden tools safely, mulching, and composting. Volunteers would be required to be physically able to be outdoors in hot weather, and enjoy interacting with children between the ages of 8 and 12yrs of age. No prior gardening knowledge is required but any sharing of experience is welcome. This is a dynamic and fun outdoor education program and a great opportunity to learn skills in gardening, sustainability and permaculture.
