Welcome visitors in a friendly engaging manner. Preparing the entrance and desk area ready for opening(general cleaning). Ensuring the reception area and shop are tidy and inviting for visitors. Processing entrance fees and sales from our gift shop. Maintaining pencils and backing boards used by students. Providing information on the history of the Museum if asked. Engaging with visitors when they have finished their tour. Assisting with general administration(as needed) Our reception volunteers are provided with the all necessary background information that assists them in providing information to our visitors. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to learn and are happy to interact with our visitors. This is an important role as it is our “welcomer” is the first impression visitors have of our Museum. These volunteers will need to have a working knowledge of the tours and activities provided by the Museum to inform visitors, this training will be provided. Our reception volunteer may also learn to do guided tours of the historical stained glass in the Abbey Church. This is not required as part of the reception role but it is a useful addition.
