Contributing metal fabrication skills for restoration of 1927 steamship John Oxley.
Volunteers learn about steel shipbuilding technologies such as welding, riveting and coatings. Cutting, grinding, welding, drilling, bolting, erection. We seek people with backgrounds in steel work and fabrication.
Usual work days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Site work requires usual steel-capped boots, working clothes and Construction Site Safety Course (we can organise this). WHS training will be part of volunteering.
Volunteers are an essential part of Sydney Heritage Fleet projects – your contribution will assist restoration and operation of heritage ships. Volunteers also enjoy the benefits of working together in a rewarding social environment.
