The Vinnies Helpline is a front-line service for the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland. We are a dedicated team that receive and direct thousands of calls for assistance across Queensland from those in need.
Calls for assistance can range from those needing help with emergency relief items such as food, clothing or household goods, to those needs specialised services such as housing assistance or financial, migrant and refugee advice or various community services advice.
As such, the Vinnies helpline is an incredibly rewarding and 'hands on' experience. It is interesting work that allows volunteers to finish each day knowing they made a hugely positive impact.
The role is also a fantastic opportunity to expand your knowledge of the welfare sector and build relationships and networks within a well-respected and highly regarded industry that looks amazing on resumes.
The day to day roles and responsibilities include;
- Taking calls from those needing assistance across Queensland
- Utlising Vinnies databases accurately record assistance requests
- Directing assistance requests via bookings with Vinnies volunteers to complete
- Handling calls and assistance requests provided by staff in a efficient and timely manner
