The Biography Program

The Role In this newly created role you will work from home and visit aged care facilities and some Biography Program events. The workload will fluctuate around an average of six hours a week. These new regional positions should create a manageable and focussed workload for you to establish productive relationships with ACFs (aged care facilities) in your region. These relationships are essential for the matching of biographers with story tellers. You will experience doing biographies and assist the biographers you place in improving their performance and satisfaction in their work. Your initial commitment will be for one year. The role will then be reviewed with you. Your responsibilities: a. Establish and develop relationships with Lifestyle (Activity) Coordinators in about six (number negotiable) aged care facilities. b. Liaise with active biographers in your region to establish their readiness to conduct biographies. c. Organise for biographers to access suitable clients in ACFs and enable them to effectively conduct biographies with that client. d. Contribute to the development of these biographers with your support and promotion of peer support. e. Review and improve how we do the program f. Personally complete one biography during the year Requirements a. Excellent communication skills in dealings with ACFs, Lifestyle Coordinators and Biographers b. Brief informal training from those with experience in ACF liaison. c. Participation in Beyond Word’s in-service training events d. Train and qualify as a biographer completing one biography immediately after your training. e. A police check. Supporting You Dan Kavanagh coordinates all ACF liaison and will help you make the role manageable and satisfying. Others may work with you on training, technical matters etc. You will be part of a team of ACF Liaison Volunteers who will support each other and work together where appropriate.
