St. Marks Recycled (St. Marks Community Centre Op Shop) currently has a vacancy for an experienced volunteer sorter. This is a unique opportunity not only to utilise your current skills but gain extra valuable skills associated with sorting:

If you can, Process donations into sellable and disposable. Tell a real Louis Vuitton from a fake. Distinguish between a Pierre Cardin from Perry’s Cardigan Know the difference between vintage and retro.

This volunteer role is for you.

Your Duties will include but not confined to: Work in front of the shop to familiarise yourself with customer’s needs and items sold within the shop. Customer Service Sort and price Clothes Sort and price Bric-A-Brac Prepare unsuitable / unsaleable donations for disposal.
Prepare stock for volunteers to put onto shop floor Group (by $ value) Bric-A-Brac for volunteers to price Display and rotate goods for sale.
Set aside donations to be valued or repaired, Group and Store donations for Window displays. Investigate and value items via internet or consult with our volunteer investigation team Keep sorting rooms tidy and in order. Ensuring Front of the shop / storage area / sorting areas are clear, clean, tidy and not cluttered for the safety of Customers and Volunteers. Review stock that has been researched and priced by our investigation team. You can accept their suggested price or based on your knowledge and experience price the item for sale at a different price. Put donations aside for the homeless. Locate and Send stock requested by St. Marks Community Centre.
Walk through the shop to familiarise what stock we have and what needs to be replenished.

Gloves and face masks will be provided

About You:
You must be fit and strong. There is a lot of lifting.
A keen learner.
Good with detail Self Motivator Awareness of current fashion trends and brands. Proven reliability and punctuality with a positive can do attitude.. Honest Familiar with Computers software including Gmail and eBay or a willingness to learn is a bonus. A commitment of at least 2 days a week (10:30 - 4:30). Times are negotiable Ability to work as part of a team. Must have at least 1 - 2 years working in a similar role.

About Us:

St. Marks Recycled (St Marks Community Center Op Shop) raises funds for St. Mark’s Community Centre. The centre is connected to St. Mark’s Anglican Church Fitzroy. The drop-in centre provides social and material support for many people , particularly the homeless.

In addition to raising funds, the shop provides clothing and other support to the vulnerable clients of the Community Centre.

The shop is close to public transport and is located in the hive of Smith st.

This position requires a Police Check and Working With Children Check

This is a rare opportunity for someone who, in the future, would like to gain employment in the Not For Profit sector or the vintage clothing industry or just interested in stuff.
