About Melbourne PC User Group/Melbourne Computer Club: We love technology, we have since we were founded in 1983 and have enjoyed evolving our own practices as technology has improved and made its way into many parts of our lives.
Last year the pandemic interrupted us but we didn’t want to be stopped, so in the process, some of our amazing members designed and built an advanced internet streaming set-up, just like what you’d see used to stream to Twitch.tv and Youtube.
At the core of our setup is the ability to stream meetings and presentations live from our Auditorium at our premises in Moorabbin. Our remote control camera system allows a single or pair of operators to stream presenters and the audience online.
On top of this, the upgraded system allows another operator to manage and integrate a video conference like Zoom, Google Meet etc to allow participants and other presenters to join directly into the stream, so they can be like a live member of the audience or a fully online presenter.
At the moment, we’re just using this newly upgraded system to help us run a regular monthly event that we’ve been running since before the pandemic, but as people start to more confidently venture out into public places, we want to see how we can push the limits of our creativity and bring even more interesting content and content styles to the community.
The main aim of this design is flexibility, and we think we’ve achieved that, but we need volunteers like you to help us push the envelope of what’s possible.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to show some creative and technical flair(which we will help you to further develop), then we’d love to hear from you.
