About One Ball

One Ball is a not for profit community soccer and wellbeing program designed for children and young people aged between (5-18 years of age). Based in the City of Port Phillip, our mission is to provide equal opportunities to all children and young people especially those from CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) backgrounds across Melbourne to play soccer and develop a positive attitude to a healthy lifestyle in a safe and fun social setting.

One Ball facilitates the Empowering Lives Through Football project throughout the metropolitan Melbourne region and is a proud partner of Football Victoria.

We are looking for a committed individual who is passionate about making a positive impact on sport and working with children/young people to join our team.

The position

This is an exciting opportunity for a beginner or experienced communications professional to put their social media and story-telling skills to action, take ownership of our existing social media platforms and drive growth through engaging an organic online audience. The successful candidate will work closely with the Program Director to develop One Ball’s social media strategy and keep social media channels updated. The role will be responsible for:

Creating and curating content (including video, photo and graphics) that are consistent with One Ball’s mission and branding Writing, editing and scheduling posts across all social media channels Implementing strategies to grow reach and gain new followers Respond to enquiries through social media in a timely manner Collaborate with the broader One Ball team (including coaches, parents, players and photographers) to curate content Advising on the latest social trends (IGTV, Instagram Reels, TikTok) and adjusting strategies accordingly Use social media marketing tools to report on the performance of paid ads

What you need

A passion for working with children/youth Tertiary qualification or work experience in a related field is desirable Excellent written and verbal communication, and short-copywriting skills Experience managing social media channels Strong understanding of digital marketing Strong understanding of Facebook Ads and key metrics Experience working with Canva or other design programs Working with Children Check Willingness to travel around Melbourne Metro if needed Ability to use initiative and work independently Interest in sports marketing and sporting trends is desirable
