Special Olympics Melbourne Eastern Ranges offers sporting activities to people with an intellectual disability. We are an established club which also has the support of our national office in Sydney.
This position is about assisting one or two athletes with their online training to becoming a coach with Special Olympics. The athletes who are very experienced in their chosen sport need assistance in understanding the questions posed in the online training modules. The proctor is there to rephrase the questions so that the athlete(s) can understand the question and answer it in their own words. The answers are to be submitted by the proctor. If it has been agreed at the beginning, the athlete will submit the answers.
You do not need to be experienced in the athlete’s sport. This is more about literacy and clear thinking. Experience with interactive websites is essential.
So how much time does this take? There would be an agreement between yourself and the athlete as to whether a weekly or fortnightly meeting would suit the both of you. One session would be for two hours and day, time and location would be organised according to what suits everybody.
