Sydney Multicultural Community Services

The activities that volunteers do during face-to-face visits (with COVID-19 restrictions applied) include: playing dominos/cards/board games, accompanying walks, outing to get a cup of coffee/food or shopping, watching a movie/television, listening to music, singing; teaching the recipient dancing/computing/using technology such as a mobile phone/tablet/laptop/computer, knitting, drawing, gardening; or depending on the recipient and volunteer’s capability.

Volunteers are required to respect the rights of residents - including exercising confidentiality, privacy, maintain dignity and duty of care. Volunteers will need to complete a Police Check (free of charge for volunteers), submit a flu vaccination medical record and attend training.

Volunteering is 1 hour per week or 2 hours every fortnight, and we ask for a minimum 6 month commitment.
