We provide an induction and training before you are rostered on to carry out Shop duties. When you are ready, you will be responsible for opening and closing the Museum and staffing the Shop/entry point on weekends from 9am-3pm, welcoming visitors, completing minor grounds and maintenance work such as basic plumbing and building fixes, gardening and keeping the complex tidy. You may be asked to fill in a volunteer shift during the week if required, (usually 2 hours).

You must have own caravan with own shower and toilet facilities. There is a height restriction of 2.9m so that it can pass through the gate. We offer free rent in a site at the back of the complex away from visitors; free hook ups to water and electricity, (please, no excessive use); and the chance to stay in an old Gaol and to meet lots of interesting people including staff, volunteers and visitors from all over the world!

The complex is an easy walk into town and the shops and you will have plenty of time to explore Alice Springs and surrounds during your stay.

Please be aware that as cash handling is involved, a police check and references are required. While this position is not onerous and does not require heavy lifting, the general grounds maintenance requires medium fitness and the use of blowers, ladders etc.

Our insurance will cover you for accident or injury but you will need your own vehicle and contents insurance.
