EMPLOYMENT CLINIC ADVISOR
Asylum Seekers Centre
Position: Employment Clinic Advisor **Program Area: **Employment Service Purpose / Objective ASC’s Employment Service works with people seeking asylum who are looking for support with their employment, training and education goals. The Employment Clinic operates on designated days as a drop-in service with Advisors on hand to support clients with resume and cover letter writing and an introduction to job searching techniques. Reports to: Employment Manager Commitment Period: Minimum 6 months Days and hours required per week: It is requested that Employment Clinic Advisors are able to commit to at least one drop-in session per fortnight. It should not exceed 16 hours per week. Duties & Responsibilities In collaboration with other advisors facilitate the smooth delivery of the employment clinic Support clients who drop into the clinic with:
- Developing resumes and cover letters
- Introduction to job search techniques
- Referral to other ASC services and supports
- Connection to relevant work readiness and training opportunities
- Maintaining relevant records of work with clients
**Selection Criteria **
- Experience in working with people from various backgrounds and cultures
- A sound understanding of issues affecting people seeking asylum in the current Australian context
- An excellent understanding of the Australian job seeking and employment landscape
- Experience with resume, cover letter and application writing
- Intermediate computer skills (confidence in using data collection software and managing Google products)
- Ability to work collaboratively with other team members
- Flexibility and willingness to take on extra tasks as appropriate
- Ability to adhere to policies in relation to code of conduct, boundaries and confidentiality
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
