Our Grill Crew operate at the Vegan Markets twice each month, serving up hot dogs along with our merchandise and an assortment of other donated products. Grill Crew are an extremely important part of the sanctuary’s fundraising, accounting for over 20% of our average monthly revenue for animal care and advocacy.
Duties involve collecting donated food items, setting up the marquee, stall and barbecue, barbecuing, managing sales transactions snd donations, and break down at the end of the day. The markets have different times attached so rosters may run 8am to 4pm, or 11am to 9pm (generally divided into two shifts).
We are looking for people who can commit for six months on a once per month basis. You will generally work with the same team each time, so people who work well in a team-based social environment are ideal. Duties include cooking, preparing and selling.
Volunteers are expected to attend five out of six of the monthly events in the six month period. You will receive a free lunch in return for your awesome effort and support, in addition to knowing that you are doing great work for the sanctuary animals and farmed animals in general.
