The position requires forming a friendly relationship with an older person living in his own home, by visiting at least once a fortnight but preferably once per week. Visits - you will undertake activities that are appropriate to the participant. This may include chats, assisting with small home handyman projects or looking at old photos and reminiscing. Also brighten your own life, gaining satisfaction, enjoyment and personal development through your visits. The application procedure includes a brief phone interview with program coordinator when volunteer application is received. You will meet with the program coordinator before starting the role, with ongoing support as required and yearly support and supervision. Report date of visits monthly to program coordinator. Other training opportunities will be offered but are not mandatory. To be referred to this role an interview with Volunteering Central Coast is required.
