Suncoast spinners is a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing the wheelchair sport to the Sunshine Coast for over 25 years.
We are seeking a volunteer to fill a Wheelchair Rugby program officer role at the University of the Sunshine coast Stadium. The role will include a weekly social game. Wheelchair Rugby experience not necessary however a sound understanding of rugby and a passion for inclusive sport would be beneficial. Wheelchair Rugby is an exciting Paralympic team sport for athletes with quadriplegia impairment. Wheelchair Rugby has similar rules to stand up Rugby and is played on an indoor court. The game requires team communication, coordination and strategic skills, and offers many social and physical benefits.
The weekly social program runs during school term dates subject to stadium availability, Saturday mornings at USC stadium, Sunshine Coast.
This role involves setting up the program, ensuring the program runs on time, working cooperatively with participants and officials. Club members include beginners through to players from the Australian team, The Steelers. The minimum time commitment is 3 hours per week.
This positions would suit a person with an interest in sport. The program officer volunteer will need to be enthusiastic and capable of motivating people.
